Laser Procedures

Panretinal Photocoagulation (PRP)
Panretinal photocoagulation is a widely accepted method to treat new retinal vessel formation occurring in proliferative eye conditions occurring due to diabetic retinopathy, hypertension, inflammation, etc. where laser is used to ablate peripheral areas of the retina.
Barrage Laser
Barrage laser is used to treat retinal tear or weak areas of the retina. It is an out patient procedure. They emit light energy to “weld” the edges of a retinal tear or hole against the underlying tissue lining the back of your eye. This stops the retinal tear from developing into a full-blown retinal detachment.
Focal Laser
Focal laser is used to treat leakage or swelling occurring around the central part of retina.

Retinal laser is an out patient department procedure. You can continue to do routine activities after the laser treatment. However, you might need someone to drive you home following the procedure.
