Uveitis services:

Uveitis is inflammation of the uvea, which is the middle layer of the eye between the retina and the white part of the eye known as the sclera. However conditions that fall under its umbrella can also affect other parts of the eye, including the retina, lens and optic nerve.

​Uveitis may be associated with:

• A virus, such as shingles, mumps or herpes simplex
• Tuberculosis (TB), Sarcoidosis
• Systemic inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, HLA B 27 Disease, ankylosing spondylitis
• A result of injury to the eye; or
• Rarely, a fungus, such as histoplasmosis or a parasite, such as toxoplasmosis.

We work in close collaboration with other specialists like pulmonologists, rheumatologists, physicians, pediatricians, etc who may be involved in the care of our patients with uveitis so that they receive the treatment they need for the best possible outcome.
